We started the walking tour in front of a statue created for the game show (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeux_sans_fronti%C3%A8res) "Games without Frontiers" and walked to a local school where a female 8th grader and a male and female 7th graders. The 7th graders were twins. We heard about how their schooling worked, subjects and what they need to go on to High School and college. I felt bad about a question I asked, I wanted to know what a typical weekend for kids was like. I could tell immediately that I asked a question the were uncomfortable answering. One of the girls talked about a half an example Saturday where she helps her father at his restaurant and the quickly prompted the other girl to ask another question.

The date on the school was 1807, but this building was from the 1970's. The history of the town is one of constantly having to move. It was originally established as a settlement called Banja which was moved to the island of Poreč during the 17th century. The island often flooded so the ruler had them move a mile downstream to the right bank and became the first town in Serbia built by architectural planning. This was 1832. After construction of the "Đerdap I" hydroelectric power station in 1970, the town was moved again to its present location downstream, and the old site was completely flooded by the Lake Đerdap in 1971.

From the school we went to the Orthodox Church and heard a concert by the Choir of the Holy Trinity Church of Negotin.

This gave us time to walk around the very small town until we had to be back on the ship to sail for the Iron Gate.

We started moving during lunch and went through the Iron Gate Gorge, and 2 locks.
