The trip Started early Saturday Morning as I arrived at ATL 3 hours early figuring that the airport would be a madhouse since it is Memorial Day Weekend, I was wrong. No one in lune at the ticket counter, and the woman who was manning the Clear line told me to use TSA precheck since there was no one in line. I had 2 1/2 hours to kill, so I binge watched two episodes of Clarkson's Farm 4 on Amazon prime.
For whatever reason there are limited charging stations in the International terminal in Atlanta,
The plane was about 20 minutes late taking off because, they apparently switched runway direction in Atlanta and were repositioning planes. So my concern was raised, as the last time I was late taking off from Atlanta my luggage was delayed.
Air Canada served a nice meal, but there was no internet and the viewing system did not work. I slept.
It was pouring in Montreal as I raced through the airport from the farthest gat to my Austrian Air flight. Compared to other airports, it was a long, but easy walk as there was good signage, and more than enough people at various choke points to direct you to the right place.
There were multiple delays in boarding that were not explained, and we were delayed taking off.
First class was great, Multiple food choices, but again no internet. The entertainment center had plenty of TV and movies, and decided to watch season 1 of Hacks. Boredom will do amazing things, like let you watch 4 episodes of a show hoping it would get better. It got worse. I slept for 3 hours, and had breakfast. Still over an hour left, I started to watch Wicked, figuring I could finish it on my flight home.
After getting my luggage, the stickers and tags were still wet from Montreal.
Those of us going on the Viking trip were met outside the baggage claim area by Viking reps, got on the bus and went to the ship.
Now the wait to get the rooms started. I had planned for this, and so I had bought a ticket to tour the Schonbrunn Place. 15 minute walk to the UBohn (subway) and 11 stops later a 10 minute walk to the location. The subway is clean well lit and very useful in where it goes.
The pictures are from the self guided tour, which bored me. As I discovered in Amsterdam, paintings, wall hangings, furniture, is quite boring to me.
After getting back to the ship, I unpacked my room, discovering the little things I forgot (like the 3 books I wanted to read on the plane) showered and changed clothes after being in the same outfit for 24 hours and it was time for the ship wide welcome.
I was very pleased with the dining staff at dinner as I was able to request smaller portions and they provided.
Back to the room and passed out for a good 9 hours.
Not in my wheelhouse,
